Herbert Sum

Physiotherapist

Herbert received his Masters of Physiotherapy from the University of Western Ontario and Bachelors Degree in Biochemistry from Simon Fraser University.  He is a member of the Physiotherapy Association of BC and its Orthopedic Division.  He has been a clinical instructor in the UBC Department of Physical Therapy for several years.  He has been involved with competitive Dragonboating for many years.

Herbert is a certified Gunn IMS (Intramuscular Stimulation) practitioner and also uses his acupuncture in his treatment approach.  His uses manual therapy and joint mobilizations, IMS needling, functional exercise prescription and patient education to assist his patients in their recovery and return to activity.

Outside of work, he enjoys playing volleyball, roller hockey and spending time with his family and friends.

Herbert speaks Cantonese and is an active member of his community.
